Hey there, cake lovers! We’ve got some super sweet news to share with you all. Last June 8th, we were featured on the lifestyle cover of Zaobao! Can you believe it? We’re absolutely over the moon and so grateful for this amazing opportunity. I had a lovely chat with the fabulous writer Yimin, where we dived into the delightful world of customised cakes, a trend that’s been booming ever since the Shangri-La Hotel crafted that amazing cake for Lee Hsien Loong.

During our one-hour chit chat, I got to spill all the tea about our journey and passion for creating the most magical customised cakes in Singapore. We have over 400 unique cake designs on our website, from cute cartoon characters and adorable animals to stunning edible printed cakes. Each cake is crafted with love and care to make every celebration extra special.

Our adventure into the world of customised cakes kicked off with the super fun money-pulling cake trend. Imagine the birthday angel’s surprise when they pull out real money from their cake – talk about a memorable moment! One of my favorite stories is about a lovely lady who wanted to transform the iconic Superman 'S' on her cake into the initial 'D' for her special birthday man, celebrating him as the superhero of their family. How sweet is that?

Every customised cake we make stands tall with four delicious layers, unlike the usual two layers you find in classic cakes. This extra height makes sure our decorations look absolutely fabulous. We aim to keep our in-house cake designs within $200, which seems to be the sweet spot for most of our customers. Of course, if you want something super special, like a fondant figurine of a cat with detailed gloves and Nike low dunks, the cost can go up a bit. Detailed figurines can take up to 5 hours to create, and that’s why some customized cakes can get a bit pricey.

Our goal is always to simplify the creation process without compromising on the value we provide. It’s all about understanding what truly matters to our customers and focusing on that. The world of customised cakes has evolved from covered fondant to dense buttercream cakes. Nowadays, we strive to make cakes that are lower in sugar, soft, and moist to cater to the Asian palate, which prefers cakes that are less sweet.

Here’s a little fun fact I shared: we can’t use light cream to cover our cakes because the higher water content can cause colors to bleed and decorations to melt – not ideal! Buttercream, with its high-fat content, is perfect for Singapore’s weather, keeping the cake’s structure intact even when it’s on display for a while. It’s all about striking the perfect balance between structural integrity and the taste that all Singaporeans love – light and less sweet.

Keeping up with trends is key for us. Did you know the average Singaporean spends 1.5 hours a day on TikTok? With a new viral customised cakes popping up every other day, our job is to bring those trendy cakes to life so you can have the most Instagrammable cakes for your birthday. I remember when Taylor Swift visited Singapore, our burnaway cake became an instant hit!

Customizing cake designs is especially important for those who want to show their loved ones how much they care. We’ve seen teams buying Ferrari and Rolex watch cakes for their bosses, and parents getting animal and cartoon character cakes for their kids. And trust me, those fondant characters are not a waste of money – kids absolutely love eating the ears and noses off their favorite bunny or pig!
